Maui Bees

Looking for a sweet-treat here on the island? Look no further! “Maui Bees” produces the freshest honey, made 100% pure, raw, and unfiltered. Along with their honey, they also have fresh produce you can purchase at their Health Food Store right off of Kula highway in upcountry Maui. If you are curious about where this delicious honey comes from, the “Bee Museum” provides a closer look at the bees hard at work behind a glass wall looking into two hives while learning about the inner workings of the hive! If you could not get enough from the museum, a Bee tour is the way to go!

The bees gather nectar all year round on Maui in the mild tropical climate.  Different plants bloom at different times of the year creating a variety of nectar options for the bees to select from. Each nectar has a different color and flavor profile that come through in the honey the bees make. With the changes that have been occurring in weather, the plants are also experiencing change in the time of year they bloom and fruit.

Maui Summer Honey…is made by the bees during the summer months between May and October. During this time the bees collect nectar from the Wilelaiki bush/tree that grows on the forest edges and grass pastures on the leeward side of Haleakala. They also visit other secondary sources such as Glycine and Silky Oak. We harvest in November.  The summer honey has a medium to light
amber color and the flavor is mild, with simpler and light floral notes and a very subtle delicate fruity spicy finish.

Maui Winter Honey…is made by the bees during the winter months between December and April. During this time the bees collect nectar from the large forests of Eucalyptus on the North West slopes of Haleakala. They also visit many other secondary sources such as blackberry, glycine, Haole koa, Avocado, Silky Oak and Ohia Lehua.
We harvest in April.  Our winter honey is darker in color,
and its  flavor is complex with tones of butterscotch and caramel and heavier floral and subtle end flavor notes.

Macadamia Blossom Honey has a nutty and floral
flavor.  Our raw Macadamia Nut Blossom honey comes
from the Wailuku and Waihee orchards in the West
Maui mountains. The bees produce this very dark, rich
and nutty tasting honey from the Macadamia Nut tree’s delicate white blossom.
