CAPTAIN JACK’S ISLAND GRILL
”Bringing Back a Cherished Local Hangout“
When the devastating Lahaina wildfire swept through Maui on August 8th, 2023, it left behind unimaginable loss. Among the many cherished institutions destroyed that day was Captain Jack’s Island Grill, a lively pirate-themed restaurant perched above Front Street. A neighbor-and sister restaurant to the popular, family-owned and operated, Cool Cat Café, Captain Jack’s had become a favorite for locals and tourists alike.
Known for its laid-back atmosphere, cold draft beers and eclectic island fare, they were more than just a restaurant-they were a community hub. Unwilling to let the loss define them, the Corpuel family and Captain Jack’s team quietly set about rebuilding-and in January 2025, Captain Jack’s welcomed everyone back again.
Their comeback was low-key-no fanfare, no grand announcement-but the reopening marked a major moment of resilience and revival. While relocating wasn’t ever the plan, they have fit right in at the Sands of Kahana Resort and feel fortunate to remain on the Westside in Lahaina. Today, Captain Jack’s Island Grill continues to serve up the same warm hospitality, delicious food and ocean view vibes that made it a Front Street favorite.
The new location boasts open-air dining now just steps from the beach, and a casual atmosphere that will have you returning again and again. The same pirate inspired décor lives on, and the menu features many familiar favorites like calamari, ceviche, ribs, burgers and fresh fish. Enjoy their award winning lilikoi beer battered fish and chips or their famous Philly Cheesesteak, you can’t choose wrong. Lunch, dinner and happy hour are still offered, along with a redesigned bar featuring 10 beers on tap and a tropical cocktail list designed for island relaxation. New and noteworthy is the addition of breakfast served 7 days a week beginning at 7am. From acai bowls to French toast and ahi benedict, breakfast is made fresh and served with aloha, a great start to your busy day of island adventures. Find out more about the by visiting
