Named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of All Time, Richard Thompson is also one of the world’s most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters. He was called “the finest rock songwriter after Dylan and the best electric guitarist since Hendrix” by the Los Angeles Times. A wide range of musicians have recorded Thompson’s music including Robert Plant, Elvis Costello, REM, Del McCoury, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, David Byrne, Don Henley and many others. Thompson’s massive body of work includes over 40 albums, many Grammy nominations, as well as numerous soundtracks.
Thompson is considered to have a genre defying mastery of both acoustic and electric guitar along with an energy and onstage wit that continues to consistently earn him new fans and a place as one of the most distinctive virtuosos in folk rock history. His most recent album is “13 Rivers”, a 13-song set that is his first self-produced album in over a decade and his 19th solo album.
